[Steve Dropkin writes:] Two years ago, at the release party for Ruach 5761 in Los Angeles, the room was rockin’ as 1,800 NFTY conventionites joined in a celebration of new Jewish music. The pulse of NFTY was felt by everyone there, including me.

As I watched and sang along I was really moved by the power of the NFTYites. When Dan Nichols and Rick Recht got up at the end of the show, and all the performers joined in with the energy of the moment, everyone was on their feet. I was struck by the awesome unity of the group, when we all stand together…

The events of 9/11 helped finalize the vision of this song, but this tune was born out of the NFTY experience that February night. I am grateful to Dan and Rick, whose energy helped inspire me to write this song.
